REGION I INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-388/92-27
This refers to the inspection intended to promote public health and safety conducted by
Mr. P. Patnaik of this office from October 6-16, 1992, at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric
Station, Unit 2 in Berwick, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Patnaik discussed
the findings of the
inspection with the members of your staff on October 16, 1992, at the conclusion of the
inspection.
This inspection included review of the inservice inspection program for the reactor systems,
and the erosion/corrosion program for the high energy piping systems.
These are important
aspects of maintaining pressure boundary component integrity. For those aspects of the
foregoing programs that were reviewed, the inspection found the inservice inspections and
erosion/corrosion program to be effective.
Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures and
representative records, interviews with personnel and observations by the inspector.
Within
the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed and, therefore, no response to this
letter is required.
