The enclosed report documents a resident safety inspection conducted by Messrs. G. S.
-Barber and D. J. Mannai from April 19, 1992 through May 31, 1992, at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station (SSES), Salem Township, Pennsylvania.
The inspection covered plant
operations, surveillance, and maintenance for both units.
At the conclusion of the inspection,
Mr. G. S. Barber, Senior Resident Inspector, summarized the inspection findings with Mr.
H. G. Stanley and other members of your staff.
Areas examined during the inspection are important to public health and safety and are
identified in the report.
Within these areas,
the inspection consisted of selective examinations
of procedures
and representative
records, interviews with personnel,
and observation of
activities in progress.
The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether NRC licensed
activities were being conducted safely and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Based
on the results of this inspection, it appears that your staff conducted licensed activities in a
safe manner during this period.
