Combined Inspection Nos. 50-387/92-11 and 50-388/92-11
This letter refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. H. J. Kaplan and R. McBrearty of
this office on March 9-13, 1992 at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station of activities
authorized by NRC License Nos. NPF-14 and NPF-22.
The results of this inspection were
discussed with Mr. G. Stanley and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I Inspection Report
which is enclosed with this letter.
The inspection focused on an assessment of the welding
program at Unit 1 and Unit 2, and a review of the inservice inspection /ST activities
currently in progress during the refueling outage at Unit 1.
Both welding and ISI are
important to ensuring the integrity of the pressure boundary.
Within these areas,
the
inspection consisted of selected examinations of procedures,
interviews with personnel,
and
observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
