The enclosed report documents
a routine safety inspection conducted by our residentt
inspectors from September 24, 1991 - November 11, 1991, at the, Susquehanna
Steam
Electric Station (SSES), Salem Township, Pennsylvania.
The inspection covered plant
operations,
surveillance,
and maintenance for both units.
At the conclusion of the inspection,
Mr. G. S. Barber, Senior Resident Inspector, summarized
the inspection findings with Mr.
H. G. Stanley and other members of your staff.,
During the period, you determined that eighteen containment isolation valves were not
included within the required surveillance program.
Although the significance of this failure
was minor, some weaknesses
were noted in the modification and training programs that
caused
this deficiency.
We have verified that you have initiated appropriate corrective
actions in this matter.
