The enclosed report documents a routine safety inspection conducted by inspectors of this office
on May 14 - June 24, 1991, at the Susquehanna
Steam Electric Station (SSES), Salem Township,
The inspection covered plant operations, surveillance, and maintenance for both
units.
At the conclusion of the inspection, Mr. G. S. Barber, Senior Resident Inspector,
summarized the inspection findings with Mr. H. G. Stanley and other members of your staff.
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.
Within these areas,
the
inspection
consisted
of selective
examinations
of procedures
and
representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observation of activities in progress.
The purpose of the
inspection was to determine whether NRC licensed activities were being conducted safely and
in accordance
with regulatory requirements.
This report also summarizes
the Management
Meeting conducted June 20,
1991 relative to improvements
and status in the Environmental
Qualification Program and Binder Upgrade Project.
Based on the results of this inspection, it
appears
that your staff conducted licensed activities in a safe manner during this period.
