NRC COMBINED INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-387/91-04; 50-388/91-04

This letter refers to the inspection conducted by inspectors of this office from March 26 to

May 13, 1991, of NRC activities authorized for the Susquehanna

Steam Electric Station

(SSES), Salem Township, Pennsylvania.

At the conclusion of the inspection, Mr. G. S.

Barber, Senior Resident Inspector, summarized

the inspection findings with Mr. H. G.

Stanley and other members of your staff.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report.

Within these areas,

the

inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative

records,

interviews with personnel,

and observation of activities in progress.

The purpose of the

inspection was to determine whether NRC licensed activities were being conducted safely and

in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Based on the results of this inspection, it

appears that your staff conducted licensed activities in a safe manner during this period.

No response to this letter is required.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's

"Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and the enclosure willbe placed in the NRC Public

Document Room.
