On September 18, 1990, Mr. R. Byram, Vice President-Nuclear Operations representing PP&L visited the NRC Region I office on short notice.

He met with Messrs. W. Hehl, A.

Blough and P. Swetland of the Division of Reactor Projects and Mr. C. Anderson of the Division of Reactor Safety from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Mr. Byram had requested the visit to ensure that the Region is well-informed with respect to activities at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (SSES).

The following areas were discussed:

1.

Overview of SSES mission/values including the PP&L Strategic Planning Process.

2.

Clarification of Operability /Reportability issues.

3.

Status of Non-conformance reporting system.

4.

Scheduling of enforcement conference relative to NRC Inspection Report 50-387/90-17 These discussions included general information and management insights.

No substantive technical or licensing issues were resolved.
