SUBJECT:
RELEASE OF INFORMATIONTO THE CONGRESSIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE AND THE NRC PUBLIC DOCUMENT ROOM Robert Wood of my staff received a request from Thomas Madden for release to a requester from the Congressional Research Service of summary information prepared by NRR staff to assist in evaluating the status of decommissioning trust funds maintained by the NRC's power reactor licensees.
The information contained in these summary reports was obtained from the decommissioning fund status reports that were required to be filed by power reactor licensees for each of their nuclear units by March 31, 1999 pursuant to 10 CFR 50.75(f)(1). Except in one instance in which licensees for the Susquehanna plant requested that certain information contained in their status reports be treated as proprietary, all status reports are publicly available in their entirety from the NRC's Public Document Room. The NRC approved the licensees'equests for proprietary treatment and none of the information requested to be treated as proprietary is contained in the summary reports.
Consequently, the attached summary reports should be provided to the Congressional Research Service as requested.
NRR is concurrently releasing copies of the requested summary reports to the NRC's Public Document Room.
