SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF MEETING ON PERMANENT INSTALLATION OF A FIFTH DIESEL GENERATOR AT THE SUSQUEHANNA SITE On March 13, 1986, representatives of the NRC staff met with representatives of the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company to discuss scheduling and scoping of the NRC review necessary to support Technical Specification requirements for the fifth diesel generator.
The licensee stated that the fifth diesel generator facility has been designed in accordance with the latest Revisions of Regulatory Guides, Codes and Specifi-cations, with the exception of the Class 1E conduit and supports, which are designed to the same standards as the existing diesels.
The licensee agreed to provide the NRC staff with a copy of the safety evaluations which determined that no unreviewed safety questions will result from the Technical Specification changes associated with the fifth diesel generator.
This information will be reviewed by the staff.
The present test schedule for the fifth diesel was discussed.
The licensee stated that the first test run of the engine is scheduled for June 1986 with
'plans for the diesel to be operable by December 1986.
a The staff is presently planning to schedule a follow-up meeting with PPAL.
