WHEREAS, there was a recent incident at the Pennsylvania
'Power and Light Company's Susquehanna Steam Electric Station in Salem Township, Pennsylvania that could have developed into a potentially hazardous situation for area residents; and WHEREAS, this incident involved the leakage of radioactive water at the plant.
- NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the City Council of the City of Wilkes-Barre hereby requests and urges the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other appropriate Federal and State Agencies to
~ re-examine the safety measures and guidelines relative to Nuclear
- Power Plant design and operation and to formulate more stringent Iguidelines and measures to assure that, incidents of such nature do not happen.
