SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF MARCH 1, 1982 MEETING On March 1, 1982, at the request of Mr. Denton, Director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, representatives of the Pennsylvania Power 8
Light Company met with Mr. Denton and other members of the NRC staff to present information on the ~desi n'ontrol measures that have been taken for the Susquehanna Steam Electr ic Station.
A list of attendees is provided in Attachment l.
The applicant desc'ribed their design control program including their policy on standards of design quality, PPSL's role of maintaining involvement and control in the quality of design work, the basic desi,gn control program and its special
- features, and their methods of maintaining an effective design verification throughout the project.
The"applicant also presented and reviewed some of the independent reviews that have already been performed on Susquehanna.
In discussing their future action, the applicant ioonImitted to an independent de's'ign review of the safety Category I piping of the feedwater system.
The applicant has committed to provide a'.'tletter on the proposed independent audit including the selected outside consulta'nt, subject to NRC approval, prior to 60 days before fuel load.
The applicant has also committed to provide a formal report on its presentation,'at the March 1 meeting.
