OF MAY 1, 2017, PRE-APPLICATION TELECONFERENCE WITH NEXTERA ENERGY DUANE ARNOLD, LLC, FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST FOR ADOPTION OF TSTF-542 (CAC NO. MF9569)
On May 1, 2017, a Category 1 public teleconference was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the teleconference was to discuss a license amendment request (LAR) for adoption of Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF)-542, "Reactor Pressure Vessel Water Inventory Control," at Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC).
The licensee presented the NRC staff with a draft Power Point slideshow (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17115A197) demonstrating proposed changes to the stations technical specifications (TSs) associated with this license amendment.
This presentation material was published as part of the meeting notice (ADAMS Accession No. ML17115A199), dated April 18, 2017.
The licensee provided an outline of the proposed variations from TSTF-542 at DAEC and a brief background and history of TSTF-542 before proceeding with the discussion on each of the variations. The NRC staff asked several clarifying questions. The licensee stated that comprehensive TS page mark-ups will be provided as part of the final submittal of the LAR to the NRC. The licensee indicated to the NRC staff that they anticipated submittal of the license amendment by the end of May 2017, and will include a requested issuance date of 1 year (May 2018).
A member of the public participated in the teleconference. Public Meeting Feedback forms were made available to all meeting participants but no feedback was provided to the NRC.
