SUBJECT'arrell G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing DIABLO CANYON - ADDITIONAL GAP ALLEGATIOI'IS (BOARD NOTIFICATION NO.84-125)
In accordance with NRC procedures the enclosed two letters from the Government Accountability Project (GAP) to the Commissioners. are issued as a Board Notif-ication.
The first letter, dated June 21, 1984 submits statements from 17 witnesses on behalf of the Mothers for Peace in support of their May 3, 1984 petition to defer any further licensing decision on the Diablo Canyon Plant.
The letter states that 302 new allegations are included.
- However, as stated in footnote 2 of the letter, six affidavits are from confidential witnesses who have not consented to the release of their affidavits even with their names and identifying characteristics deleted.
These six affidavits were submitted only to the Office of Investigation.
The allegations are currently being reviewed by the staff with respect to their significance for a full-power licensing decision.
They will be included in the allegation tracking system for Diablo Canyon.
The second letter, dated June 22, 1984, forwards a sample of tube steel referenced in the first letter.
The staff has photographed the sample and pictures are included in this Board Notification.
