Dear Ms. Bladey:
On behalf of the nuclear energy industry, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI)1 appreciates the opportunity to respond to your request for comments on the subject draft Interim Staff Guidance (ISG) Memorandum. The industry has reviewed the document and has no comments. In fact, the industry would like to take this opportunity to commend the NRC staff on the quality of this draft. The information contained in the ISG revision is responsive to industry questions and suggestions that have been communicated to the NRC in public meetings over the past year. We feel the ISG will provide clear direction and expectations to NRC inspectors and guidance to licensees while implementing EGM 15-002, "Enforcement Discretion for Tornado-Generated Missile Protection Noncompliance."
