MN No.17-002 U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION I NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING March 10, 2017 Licensee: Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.

Facility: Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Docket No: 50-293 Date/Time: Tuesday, March 21, 2017 6:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.

Doors to the meeting room will open to the public at 5:00 p.m.

Location: Plymouth Memorial Hall Main Auditorium 83 Court Street Plymouth, MA 02360

Purpose:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will meet with Entergy to discuss the NRCs assessment of safety performance at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station during the 2016 calendar year, as described in the NRC annual assessment letter dated March 1, 2017.

The NRC will also discuss preliminary conclusions from the 95003 inspection. Following the meeting with Entergy, the NRC will hold a separate session, during which members of the public will have the opportunity to pose questions and offer comments to the NRC. The agenda is attached.

NRC Attendees: Daniel Dorman, Regional Administrator, Region I Raymond Lorson, Director, Division of Reactor Safety Arthur Burritt, Chief, Projects Branch 5, Division of Reactor Projects Donald Jackson, Chief, Operations Branch, Division of Reactor Safety Erin Carfang, Senior Resident Inspector, Pilgrim Public Participation: This is a Category 1 Meeting, which the public is invited to observe.

Following the business portion of the meeting, the public will have the opportunity to discuss Entergys performance and NRCs oversight of Pilgrim with the NRC.

Members of the public and media may enter the main auditorium beginning at 5:00 p.m. Prior to that, entrance to the main auditorium will be limited to NRC staff and contractors.

The NRC will conduct the meeting in an orderly fashion and will maintain an environment that encourages respectful discussion. Threatening language will not be tolerated and will be cause for removal from the

2 meeting by local law enforcement. In addition, individuals who repeatedly disrupt the meeting will be removed from the auditorium. The meeting will be facilitated by Brett Klukan, Regional Counsel for NRC, Region I.

Members of the public who wish to speak during the meeting will be required to sign up, beginning at 5:00 p.m., prior to entering the main auditorium. The order of public speakers will be determined by random selection, so there is no need to line up prior to 5:00 p.m. to reserve a place in the speaking order.

Since the NRC will be using a projector and laptop for its presentation, public attendees will be permitted to display up to three slides or pages (in PDF or PowerPoint format) when speaking. Slides must be emailed to Brett.Klukan@nrc.gov in advance (no later than March 17, 2017). Due to computer security concerns, the NRC will not be able to accept electronic media on site. The submission of slides does not guarantee that an attendee will be selected to speak. The order of speakers will be determined by random selection.

NRC security and local law enforcement representatives will conduct searches of personal items (briefcases, purses, backpacks, equipment cases, etc.) outside the entrance to the main auditorium. No weapons of any kind are permitted. Any props should be fairly lightweight (i.e., would not injure a person if thrown or swung with force) and should not contain any metal fixtures or sharp edges.

Signs, banners, posters, and displays not larger than 18 x 18 are permitted in the meeting room, although sticks, poles, or other similar devices are prohibited. No tables or displays will be permitted inside the main auditorium.
