Dear Commissioners and Staff:

In Reference 1, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) submitted a license amendment request to modify Technical Specification 3.4.12, "Low Temperature Overpressure Protection (LTOP) System." In that submittal, PG&E requested the license amendments to be effective upon their issuance by the NRC, and to be implemented within 120 days from the date of issuance.

To avoid potential conflicts with the upcoming scheduled refueling outage for Diablo Canyon Power Plant Unit 1, PG&E hereby requests that the implementation period

  • for the amendments be 180 days from the date of issuance, rather than 120 days.

This request does not affect the results of the technical evaluation or the no

  • significant hazards consideration determination previously transmitted in Reference 1.

PG&E makes no new or revised regulatory commitments (as defined by NEI 99-04) in this letter.

If you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact Mr. Hossein Hamzehee at (805) 545-4720.
