Nice speaking with you again today regarding Hope Creek

Mike, During our discussion today, you noted the most recent results of safety relief valve (SRV) testing at Hope Creek as documented in a License Event Report (LER) issued on December 20, 2016. You were concerned with the trend represented by continuing SRV setpoint drift at Hope Creek. As I mentioned, we sent you a comprehensive letter on this subject just over a year ago. It is publicly available on the NRC documentation management system at ADAMS Accession No. ML15365A341. At this time, there is little more I can add beyond what was documented in that letter and in an inspection report issued a few months later - A copy is attached. This inspection report should help you understand the issue further, and it reflects the NRCs continued attention to this matter.

We will document our review of the most recent LER in 2017. I would note that the most recent trend in the average setpoint drift improved slightly from the last operating cycle.

A review of the NRCs generic communications listing will reveal a number of other discussions on this subject beyond the Information Notice referenced in our 2015 letter.
