RE(VEST FOR ISSUANCE OF BOARD NOTIFICATION ON DIABLO CANYON Your approval is requested for issuance of the attached Board Notification (BN) to the Commission.
The enclosure to the BN is a letter from Dennis F. Kirsch, Region V, to Nancy Culver, Mothers for Peace, who had expressed a number of concerns regarding the Diablo Canyon Plant.
The concerns were transmitted by Region V to NRR with a recommendation for Board Notification (memorandum dated January 30, 1987).
Although the subject matter of the BN is not directly related to the spent fuel pool hearing proceedings, that is, it is not relevant or material, I believe it may result in substantial public, press or Congressional interest.
Therefore, in accordance with NRR Office Letter No. 19, Revision 3
( Items B.2.(b) and B.3), I recommend that the information be provided to the Commission as a
Board Notification.
