SUBJECT:
SITE VISIT - SPENT FUEL POOL RE-RACKING DIABLO CANYON UNITS I AND 2 On April 14,
- 1986, members of the Engineering Branch (R. Ballard, D. Jeng, F. Rinaldi) and Franklin Research Center (C. Herrick) visited the Diablo Canyon site to observe the, spent fuel pools as part of the spent fuel pools re-racking evaluation.
The site visit provided 'the opportunity for the staff and its consultant to personally observe the spent fuel pools and components, as well as the general reinforced concrete structures around spent fuel pools.
The major items of discussion concerned the cask restraint
- beams, which were not at location during our site visit, and other pool modifications.
The applicant will provide these cask restraint beams prior to storing the spent fuel.
In conclusion, the site visit was informative, but did not raise new questions on the spent fuel pool re-racking for the two units at the Diablo Canyon site.
