SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF NOVEMBER 19, 1992 PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE LICENSEE'S REGULATORY GUIDE 1.97 REVIEW PROJECT On November 19, 1992, the NRC staff met with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E or the licensee) in Rockville, Maryland to discuss the issue stated above.

A list of the attendees present at the meeting is enclosed.

A copy of the licensee's presentation slides is also enclosed.

The licensee discussed the status of their review program to assess the Regulatory Guide 1.97 post-accident instrumentation at Diablo Canyon.

The licensee described the scope and focus of the review program and their continuing efforts.

The licensee plans to issue an interim report documenting their findings and any corrective actions in March 1993 and a final report in December 1993.

This meeting follows a December 18, 1991, meeting, at which the licensee discussed plans for review and closure of identified findings regarding post-accident monitoring instrumentation.

The licensee should be commended for its initiative with respect to their Regulatory Guide 1.97 review effort.
