NOTICE OF VIOLATION Pacific Gas and Electric Company Diablo Canyon Power Plant Docket Nos.

50-275 8 50-323-License Nos.

DPR-80 8 DPR-82 During an inspection conducted April 30, 1990, through May 4, 1990, one violation of NRC requirements was identIfied.

In accordance with the "General Statement of Policy and Procedure For NRC Enforcement Actions," 10, CFR Part 2, Appendix C, (1990), the violation is listed below:

Technical Specification 3/4.7.8. 1. 1 requires that each sealed source containing radioactive material in excess of 100 microcuries of beta and/or gamma emitting material or 10 microcuries of alpha-emitting material that are in use be tested for leakage and/or contamination at least once every six months.

Contrary to the above, a 20 millicurie Sr-Y-90 sealed

source, Serial No.
537, and a 1.0 curie Am-241 sealed
source, Serial No.

538, in use had not.

been tested for leakage and /or contamination for a ten month period, between July 1, 1989 and May 3, 1990.

This is a Severity Level IV Violation (Supplement IV).

In view of the immediate corrective action taken during the inspection, which
