Summary of Meeting held on November 4-6, 1987 regarding Long-Term Seismic Program - Soil-Structure Interaction Workshop.

Letter dated January 26, 1988 from M. Reich, BNL, to R. Pichumani, NRC.
A summary of the NRC/PG&E workshop on Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) studies held at San Francisco on Nov. 4-6, 1987 was forwarded to all concerned by reference 1.
Enclosed herewith are the detailed comments of the BNL expert panel (consisting of Professors Costantino,
- Gazetas, and Veletsos) on the presentations made by PG&E at the above mentioned workshop.
We are in general agreement with the comments made by the SSI panel regarding the analysis methodologies and the results of analysis presented by the licensee.
Please forward these comments to the licensee for their consideration.
Incidentally the licensee may be requested to submit its reports for review at least three weeks prior to the meetings in the future in order to give the panel members sufficient time for evaluation of the data presented.
