Your memorandum of September 8,
1986 (Kirsch to Holahan) requested NRR to evaluate the reinstallation of the original spent fuel racks, as modified, into the Diablo Canyon Unit 1 spent fuel pool.
Your memorandum of September 24, 1986 (Kirsch to Holahan) requested NRR to evaluate certain as-measured welds.
NRR staff has completed its evaluation of both aspects as documented in the enclosed evaluation.
We conclude that the changes to the racks, the method of reinstallation, and the as-measured welds are acceptable and do not require a
change to the license for Unit 1 or a change to the Technical Specifications.
This completes our action on this matter.
