SSER 29 addresses the staff's evaluation of the programmatic and technical aspects of the IRP.
The report also presents the results of additional, independent audits and evaluations by the staff in the area of seismic design of civil structures and systems.
SSER 29 identifies the folloking two areas where the PGRE and NRC efforts have not been fully completed:
(1) turbine building (shear friction along construction joint), see Section 5.2.2 in SSER 29 and (2) pipeway (seismic analysis)
'SSER, see Section 8.3 in SSER 29.
The staff has concluded that these efforts must be completed prior to full power operation but not prior to low power operation.
The staff has in preparation the following additional reports:
SSER 28:'tatus of Resolution of Allegations for Unit 1 and Unit 2 SSER 30:
Evaluation of Piping Systems and Pipe Supports for Unit 2 SSER 31:
Evaluation of Certain Matters in Support of Issuance of Unit 2 License.
The staff expects to issue these reports in the near future, prior to a Unit 2 licensing decision.

In accordance with NRC procedures the enclosed Supplement.No.
29 to the Diablo Canyon Safety Evaluation Report (SSER 29), dated March 1985, is provided for your information.
SSER 29 presents the staff evaluation of the Pacific. Gas and Electric C'ompany (PGSE) Internal Review Program (IRP).for the Unit 2 applicability and resolution of concerns that had-'been raised during the Unit 1 design verification by the Independent Design Verification Program (IDVP),.the PG8E Internal Technical Program (ITP) and the NRC staff.
-This BN is being reissued as BN 85-035 it was previously issued with an incorrect BN number.
