In accordance with present NRC=procedures for Board Notifications, the following is enclosed for information of the Commission:

First Interim Technical

Report, issued by R. L. Cloud Associates and transmitted to G. Maneatis, et. al. by letter dated June 9, 1982 2.

Transcript of meeting on Diablo Canyon IDVP on June 10, 1982 in Waltham, Massachusetts 3.

Trip report of NRC Audit of IDVP activities at Teledyne Engineering Services, dated June 9, 1982 Enclosure,.l.-provides present conclusions of the Independent Design Verification Program I IDVP) ui respect to additional verification and sampling required to complete Phase I of the IDVP. It is based on the present status of the generic sample evaluation by R. L. Cloud Associates (RLCA) and was approved by Teledyne Engineering Services (TES), the IDVP Program Manager.

The submittal is in accordance with the TES Program Management Plan of March 29, 1982.

Additional reports will be submitted (possibly as many as thrity) when specific tasks of the program have been completed.

A final technical report on the IOVP will be submitted by PG8E in accordance with Commission Order CLI-81-30 of November 19, 1981.

The second enclosure provides the verbatim transcript of a meeting on June 10, 1982 in Maltham, Massachusetts at which TES and PGSE provided NRC management ivith a status report and schedule for the IDVP.

The Commission JUN 18 Enclousre 3 is a trip report of an NRC audit of the IDVP activities at the TES offices in Maltham, Massachusetts.

The information in the enclosures is relevant to the safety issue on the design adequacy of Diablo Canyon, Unit 1.

This is the subject of Commission Order CLI-81-30 which is the basis for the IDVP.

The staff is evaluating the information presented in Enclosure 1 as part of its ongoing review of the IDVP efforts and in particular with respect to the adequacy of Phase I of the program.
