The staff was notified on the afternoon of January 29, 1981 of damage which had been incurred at the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Break)0<ter.

Preliminary N'o'tification of Ugbsual 05)urrences November 81-04 identified damage to the west breakwater vlhich comprised the loss of 80 to 100 feet of concg5te caps and the "scattering" of the 26 to 36 ton tribars.

Subsequent discussions adth the pacific Gas a Electric Cojatany indicate)that approximately 120 feet of the structure was damaged.

Staff members will visit the site to inspect the damage and will further discuss this matter with the applicant and its consultant to determine the safety implications of this incident.

We will notify you of any further developments.
