SUBJECT:
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR POWER GENERATING PLANT, EXTENDED FLOW WINDOW LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST
Dear Dr. Bley:
During its 638th meeting on November 3-5, 2016, the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (the Committee) completed its review of the extended flow window license amendment request for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (Monticello), as well as the associated draft safety evaluation prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff.
The Committee provided its report on the Monticello license amendment request to Chairman Stephen G. Burns in a letter dated November 15, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML16312A407). The NRC staff agrees with the Committees recommendation that the agency approve the proposed license amendment, subject to the limitations and conditions discussed in the staffs safety evaluation.
The NRC staff appreciates the Committees thorough review of this amendment request and the associated safety evaluation. The NRC staff recognizes the Committees commitment to safety and appreciates its continued support.
Sincerely,
