Telephone Log On September 30, 2016, Christine Pineda of the NRC held a telephone conversation with Mr.
James Lewis, General Manager of the Advanced Disposal Services Zion landfill. Ms. Pineda requested confirmation about the quantity of municipal wastes and nonhazardous demolition debris the Zion landfill received from the Zion Nuclear Power Station (ZNPS) site. Mr. Lewis stated that the quantities of wastes from the site are not significant enough to have a noticeable impact on the capacity of the landfill. Mr. Lewis did not anticipate other sources of waste in the area in the near future that could have such an impact, when combined with the waste from the ZNPS site. In addition, Mr. Lewis stated the landfill accepts on the order of 200,000 tons per year of oil-containing soils, and that any such soils from the ZNPS site would not be noticeable in comparison with this yearly quantity.
