DIABLO CANYON POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - DIGITAL PROCESS PROTECTION SYSTEM UPGRADE LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST
Dear Dr. Bley:
During the 636th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (the Committee),
which occurred on September 8-10, 2016, the Committee completed its review of the digital Process Protection System (PPS) upgrade license amendment request for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, Units 1 and 2 (DCPP), as well as the associated draft safety evaluation prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff.
The Committee provided its report on the DCPP digital PPS upgrade license amendment request to me in a letter dated September 22, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML16257A534). The NRC staff agrees with your recommendation that the agency should approve the proposed license amendment.
The NRC staff appreciates the Committees thorough review of this amendment request and the associated safety evaluation. The NRC staff recognizes the Committees commitment to safety and appreciates its continued support.
