RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 2016-01: MONITORING OF ABSORBING MATERIALS IN SPENT FUEL POOLS License No. R-126 Docket No. 50-407 This letter is submitted to fulfill the 210-day response requirement to Generic Letter 2016-01: Monitoring of Neutron-Absorbing Materials in Spent Fuels dated April 7, 2016 for the University of Utah. Non-Power'Reactors

-Question 1: Are neutron-absorbing materials used in a reactor pool, fuel storage pool, or other wet locations designed for the storage of reactor or spent fl.lei? Response 1: The University of Utah TRIGA Reactor does not use any neutron-absorbing materials in the reactor pool, fuel storage pools, or any other wet locatio.ns for the storage of fuel. Such materials are also not credited in our Safety Analysis Report. Questions 2 and 3 are not applicable.
