STATUS UPDATE TO THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION RESPONSE FOR ENDORSEMENT OF NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE WHITE PAPER REGARDING SECURITY COPING TIME, DATED DECEMBER 2015
Dear Mr. Speer:
We are writing to inform you of the status of your request dated December 17, 2015, for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to endorse the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) white paper regarding security coping time and incorporation into Regulatory Guide 5.81, Target Set Identification and Development for Nuclear Power Reactors.
In conduct of the preliminary review, the staff determined the scope of the review to be such that the NRC staff will need to evaluate if its endorsement would be contrary to NRC regulations or Commission Policy. This determination is needed before the staff can continue with the technical evaluation of the security coping time white paper. We plan to provide you the results of this determination when our assessment is finalized.
