RESULTS OF THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS PRELIMINARY REVIEW OF NEI 05-05, CONTROLLER GUIDELINE FOR FORCE-ON-FORCE EXERCISE SIMULATIONS, REVISION 5, DATED DECEMBER 2015
Dear Mr. Kline:
I am writing to provide you the results of our preliminary review of your letter dated December 16, 2015, and subsequent attachment requesting review and endorsement of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) document, NEI 05-05, Revision 5.
You requested that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conduct a review of NEI 05-05, Revision 5, Controller Guideline for Force-on-Force Exercise Simulations, which was re-developed to focus on control measures for force-on-force exercise simulations. You also request the NRC to provide endorsement of NEI 05-05, Revision 5, by March 15, 2016.
The NRC staff conducted a preliminary review of NEI 05-05, Revision 5, and determined the document contains sufficient information to the applicable program areas for a detailed evaluation for potential NRC endorsement. We will continue a detailed evaluation of NEI 05-05, Revision 5, in order for the NRC to determine if endorsement of this document would be recommended.
We will provide a reply of our review within 90 days from the date of this letter to either request additional information or notify you of our determination for potential endorsement.
