SUBJECT:

NORTHWEST MEDICAL ISOTOPES, LLC - NOTICE OF HEARING, OPPORTUNITY TO PETITION FOR LEAVE TO INTERVENE, AND ORDER IMPOSING PROCEDURES REGARDING APPLICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION PERMIT (TAC NO. MF6138)

Dear Ms. Haass:

By letter dated February 5, 2015 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML15086A261), Northwest Medical Isotopes, LLC (NWMI) submitted part one, consisting primarily of its environmental report, of a two-part construction permit (CP) application for review by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) under Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), Part 50, Domestic Licensing of Production and Utilization Facilities. By letter dated July 20, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15210A182),

NWMI submitted the second of its two-part application for a CP.

By letter dated June 1, 2015, the NRC staff determined that part one of NWMIs application for a CP was complete and acceptable for docketing (ADAMS Accession No. ML15125A048). By letter dated December 24, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15341A112), the NRC staff informed NWMI that part two of its CP application for a production facility as defined in 10 CFR 50.2 Definitions, contained the remainder of the preliminary safety analysis report required by 10 CFR 50.34(a), was submitted in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 2.101(a)(5), and was placed, in its entirety, under Docket No. 50-609.

In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 2.104, a notice of hearing and opportunity to petition for leave to intervene on the application is being forwarded to the Federal Register for publication. Enclosed is a copy of that notice, including an order imposing procedures for access to sensitive unclassified non-safeguards information for contention preparation.

If you have any questions, please contact me at 301-415-2856 or by electronic mail at Michael.Balazik@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA/
