FERMI UNIT 1 MASTER INSPECTION PLAN - CALENDAR YEAR 2016

Dear Mr. Fessler:

In accordance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Manual, Chapter 2561, Decommissioning Power Reactor Inspection Program, the NRC Region III staff and management have developed a Master Inspection Plan (MIP) for Fermi Unit 1.

The plan is based on your current performance and schedule of significant decommissioning activities planned for the site for the period of January through December 2016 (CY16). The plan outlines how we intend to focus our regional inspection resources to provide oversight for any significant decommissioning activities.

Because this MIP is based, in part, on your proposed schedule of significant decommissioning activities for CY16, the plan and focus of the NRC inspection activities may change to reflect a change in your planned decommissioning activities or your performance. In order to ensure that this MIP remains current, we request that you keep the Materials Control, ISFSI and Decommissioning Branch staff informed of any significant changes in your proposed schedule of decommissioning activities. You will be informed of any significant changes to the Fermi Unit 1 Inspection Schedule.

We currently plan to conduct one routine decommissioning safety inspection at Fermi Unit 1 during calendar year 2016. The inspection procedures we plan to utilize for the inspection are as follows:

Inspection Procedure Title IP 36801 Organization, Management, and Cost Control IP 37801 Safety Reviews, Design Changes and Modifications IP 40801 Self-Assessment, Auditing and Corrective Action IP 83750 Occupational Radiation Exposure IP 84750 Radioactive Waste Treatment, Effluent and Environmental Monitoring IP 86750 Solid Radioactive Waste Management and Transportation of Radioactive Materials

Fessler In accordance with Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
