- Siva, The NRC staff's assumption is correct. PG&E is providing the following clarification regarding the applicability of each of the WCAP reports:
- Attachment 1 to the Enclosure (of the Relief Request) is referring to the complete "report prepared by Westinghouse, which includes eight Westinghouse attachments.
- The "report prepared by Westinghouse" to support the Relief Request consists of Westinghouse Attachments 1 to 8 containing Figures and Tables from two WCAP Reports.
- Westinghouse proprietary report, WCAP-16816-P is applicable to Diablo Canyon Power Plant Unit 1.
- Westinghouse proprietary report, WCAP-16815-P is applicable to Diablo Canyon Power Plant Unit 2.
- The discussion presented in the last paragraph in Section 4 of the Enclosure (on Page 3) inadvertently refers to only WCAP-16816-P that is applicable to Unit 1. Reference to WCAP-16815-P applicable to Unit 2 should have been included also. However, the information presented in the "report prepared by Westinghouse", Attachments 1 to 8 indicate that the discussion presented in the last paragraph in Section 4 is equally applicable to both Unit 1 and Unit 2.
Please let me know if further clarification is required.

contains information about the main steam nozzle design extracted from WCAP-16816-P, Revision 1 (Westinghouse Proprietary Class 2). The figures selected show the vessel layout including the main steam nozzle location and configuration in the top elliptical head.
Figure 7-21 depicts the limiting stress locations in the steam outlet nozzle and Figure 7-23 depicts the limiting stress locations in the flow limiting insert weld region. The associated Tables 7-38 and 7-39 respectively present the stress analysis summaries with reference to the limiting stress locations depicted in the Figures Rather than only Attachment 1 as identified in the above text, the NRC staff notes the following attachments include information from WCAP-16816-P, Revision 1:
- contains Figure 7-21.
- contains Figure 7-23.
- contains Table 7-38.
- contains Table 7-39.
However, in addition to the above four attachments, Attachments 5 through 8 identify the same figure and table numbers from WCAP-16815-P, Revision 3. The staff is under the assumption that WCAP-16815-P may apply to one of the DCNPP units and WCAP-16816-P may apply to the other DCNPP unit.
Please clarify if the staffs assumption is correct and identify the applicability of each of the WCAP reports.
