- 1) An update on CSAP work done.
What CSAP, Characterization, Sampling and Analysis Plan, work has been accomplished?
Please provide a review of the work and findings as well as next steps for the CSAP work.
This could include written materials or a report.
- 2) Mid -Point Progress Report & associated Timeline for Existing and Upcoming work.
We are at a midpoint between the 2010 Final EIS and the ten year original deadline of 2020 for Phase 1 work.
Although understanding that funding was reduced in this period, we would like to receive a status report regarding expectations and accomplishments.
As of 2015, a report listing the expectations from the 2010 FEIS and what has been completed, what is in progress, or what has not yet been undertaken would be useful--
including new expected dates of completion.
The Progress or Status report and timeline should also include the detailed plans for the New Path Forward.
- 3) Discussion of Adequate Public Notice of upcoming site activities, permitting, and and availability of informational materials. This also included Phase 1 study background materials This issue has presented recurring problems. We recommend advance announcements at public meetings, posting on a website all public notices and opportunities for public comment, and a folder of all the relevant informational materials. A reading room with this material organized should also be make available for the public.
The Exhumation study is an example of the need to be able to review the background inventory documents as well as the technical implementation plans as they are produced. These plans will fill in the details for portions of the current exhumation study and should be available to the public.
- 4) Recent adverse events have occurred at nuclear waste sites.
First there were explosions at WIPP. More recently nuclear waste exploded and burned in the closed low-level radioactive waste trenches at Beatty, NV. Please update us with your latest information on the investigation of this event, and what the findings are regarding contributing factors and type of waste in this closed LLW facility. Were there warnings and how might this relate West Valleys burial areas?
