[External_Sender] Re: University of Utah 2015 NRC License Exam Mr. Nguyen, Our reassembly of the fission counter and then subsequent failures on other electronics has still prevented us from starting up and operating the reactor. We are in the process of trying to finish the repairs but unfortunately we will not have our students properly prepared for the NRC exam in November due to this delay. Instead of trying to reschedule an exam date right now we request to delay scheduling the exam until we get the reactor back up and operating. Once it is up and operating we will then contact you to try and schedule a time for our license exam.

Sorry for the confusion of going back and forth on exam dates but we have run into various setbacks in the repairs that we were not anticipating. We appreciate your understanding and patience with us.

[External_Sender] University of Utah 2015 NRC License Exam Dear Mr. Nguyen We would like to suggest a slight change in our exam scheduled for August 24, 2015 as of now.

We would like to suggest to reschedule the 2015 Licence exam for mid October (10/12/15 or later). This summer has been particularly busy at the UNEP facility. We are in the process of replacing our fission counter (aging issue), and at the same time we have been conducting facility renovations (clean up of the wiring in the control console). Due to our desire to ensure that these items were handled thoroughly and conservatively while maintaining our focus on nuclear safety, we have not been able to provide the exemplary level of training which we believe has become the standard for our candidates. We are committed to producing strong license candidates as we have proven to be able to do so in the past few years. Our goal is for our candidates to demonstrate excellent operating performance both during the License Examination and when conducting facility operations in the future. With this in mind, we are requesting the exam date be moved until the week of 12 October or later.

Please be so kind in letting us know if this change will be acceptable given your schedules.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards, Ryan C. Schow l Reactor Supervisor 50 S. Central Campus Dr., Rm 1206 l Salt Lake City, Utah 84112
