Jim, The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff is preparing a safety evaluation report (SER), documenting the staffs review of the SHINE construction permit application submitted by SHINE on May 31, 2013.

The staffs SER is being provided to the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) to support the upcoming full committee meeting scheduled for October 8, 2015.

The enclosed SER chapters are being provided to SHINE only for review of proprietary information pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 2.390 Public Inspections, Exemptions, Requests for Withholding. The staff concludes that the draft SER chapters do not contain any information for which exemption from public disclosure has been sought or approved or any factual errors. However, the NRC will withhold parts of the SER chapters from public disclosure for ten working days from the date of this e-mail to allow you the opportunity to verify the staffs conclusion that the SER chapters contain no such exempt information or any factual errors. If within that ten day period, you do not request that all or portions of the SER chapters be withheld from public disclosure, these SER chapters will be made available for public inspection through the NRC Public Document Room and the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and management System (ADAMS).
