REQUEST FOR 10-DAY EXTENSION TO SUBMIT APPEAL REGARDING WHITE FINDING ASSOCIATED WITH THE DIVISION 3 SHUTDOWN SERVICE WATER PUMP

Dear Mr. Hanson:

On August 11, 2015, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Inspection Report 05000461/2015009 which provided our final determination of a preliminary finding discussed in Inspection Report 05000461/2015001. Within this letter, the NRC provided you with 30 days to appeal the staffs determination of significance for the identified White finding and called your attention to the appeal criteria contained in Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 0609, .

On September 9, 2015, Exelon Nuclear submitted a letter to the NRC requesting a 10-day extension to appeal the staffs significance determination for the White finding. On September 10, 2015, Ms. Karla Stoedter, NRC, contacted Mr. Patrick Simpson, Exelon, to verbally approve the 10-day extension. Any appeal of the White finding must now be submitted in writing to the Regional Administrator, Region III by September 20, 2015. Such appeals will be considered to have merit only if they meet the criteria given in IMC 0609, Attachment 2.

B. Hanson In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter, and your response if you choose to provide one, will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. To the extent possible, your response should not include any personal privacy, proprietary, or safeguards information so that it can be made available to the public without redaction.
