Entergy/Indian Point: Impingement Monitoring Plan for Sturgeon
Dear Ms. Damon-Randall:
As requested in your letter dated April 22, 2015, enclosed for approval is the revised monitoring plan entitled, Proposed Monitoring Plan for Indian Point Energy Center Take of Atlantic and Shortnose Sturgeon by Impingement at Cooling Water Intakes, Revision 3 (the Plan). I am sending the Plan to you by email on behalf of Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy) Indian Point Energy Center (IPEC).
The Plan reflects the consolidation of Revision 2, dated June 2014, an addendum dated August 2014, and additional supplemental information provided on behalf of Entergy through February of this year.
As noted in your letter, Entergy has been carrying out certain elements of the feasibility studies described in the Plan. These include the evaluation of sonar imaging technologies for potential use in subsequent pilot studies and the long-term monitoring program. While the Plans description of the feasibility studies indicates that they will take up to one year to complete following Plan approval, in light of the progress made we now anticipate sharing our feasibility findings with you within four months of receiving Plan approval and, thereafter, submitting a detailed proposal for commencing the pilot study phase.
We look forward to your approval of the Plan and completing our feasibility studies. If you have any questions regarding the Plan, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Dara Gray of IPEC or me.
