Nancy, After reviewing the proposal and speaking with Eric Belt from ESI, we have no concerns about the proposal for the mussel survey work to be conducted by ESI this summer.

I can call you to discuss the tree clearing issue that was mentioned in our letter to NRC regarding the northen long-eared bat. However, if no tree clearing is proposed (which we assumed because the DEIS indicates that there are no plans for landscape altering activities),

there would be no impacts to the northern long-eared bat. If tree clearing is proposed, please let us know and follow the recommendations that we provided in our letter to NRC.

Hi Shawn -

Thanks for the update. I apologize for the phone problem, but I cant explain it. It should have rolled to voice mail.

I will call you at 4:00 PM Central (5:00 PM Eastern) on 6/19/2015 to see how your review is coming along.

I spoke to the NRC Environmental Project Manager for the Braidwood License Renewal about our contact with you. He suggested that NRC staff may want to participate in any conference call or meeting that we have with you about the mussel survey. I dont think that will be a problem, but wanted to let you know.

It sounds like youve got a lot going on. So, I appreciate your agreeing to review the scope of work.

Respectfully, Nancy

Re: Exelon Generation -- Braidwood Station Mussel Survey

Nancy,

I listened to your message and called you today but your line just continued to ring so I could not leave a message. Due to other priority assignments I have not had a chance to review the mussel survey yet. Based on my calendar the earliest that I will be able to review the proposal would be June 19th. If I can't review the doc by then I will be in the field/in training for the week of June 22nd. If you want to follow up with me in the afternoon of the 19th, that would be great.

Thanks,

Shawn Cirton Fish and Wildlife Biologist USFWS - Chicago Illinois Field Office 1250 South Grove Avenue, Suite 103 Barrington, IL 60010 (847)381-2253 xt.19 (847)366-2345 (work cell)

Nancy,

I've been in the field the last few days and I am just reading this email. I will look at my calendar, review the proposal, talk with Kris and get back to you about a call by the end of the week.

Hi Shawn -

I am attaching a PDF file containing the proposed scope of work for a mussel survey to be conducted this summer in the vicinity of the Braidwood Station discharge diffuser in the Kankakee River. As my email message to you dated 5/27/2015 indicated, John Petro and I are interested in discussing the proposal with you and Kris Lah during a meeting, conference call, or webinar in the near future, possibly next week. The purpose of the meeting would be to get feedback from you about using the proposed study to address certain concerns related to mussels as expressed in the Department of Interiors letter to the

NRC dated May 8, 2015.

Please feel free to contact me or John Petro (630-657-3209) if you need additional information about the proposed mussel survey in the Kankakee River near Braidwood.

Also, please let me know whether you have identified some dates on which we might meet with you.

Thanks in advance for your attention in this matter.

Respectfully, Nancy
