SUBJECT:
SUMMARY
OF VISIT TO MICHIGAN HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FERMI 2 LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT On September 10, 2014, Emily Larson (NRC), Russell Chazell (NRC) and I visited the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office (MSHPO) to perform a cultural resource search in support of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions environmental review of a license renewal application submitted by DTE Electric Company (DTE) for Fermi Unit 2. With the aid of Stacy Tchorzynski, MSHPO Archeologist, NRC staff accessed the Michigan Archeological Site File database and associated bibliography reports to confirm the location of historic properties and cultural resources within the area of potential effect. The staff also discussed the proposed license renewal action with Brian Grennell, MSHPO Cultural Resource Management Specialist.
The MSHPO staff expressed no specific concerns regarding the proposed Fermi 2 license renewal during this meeting.
