SUMMARY
OF PUBLIC MEETING On April 7, 2015, at 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Londonderry Township Municipal Building in Middletown, PA. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Three Mile Island, Unit 1, for 2014.
A notice of the open house was issued on March 23, 2015 and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML15082A128.
ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC displayed poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Three Mile Island, Unit 1, for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2014, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2015 (ADAMS Accession No. ML15062A402). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Three Mile Island, Unit 1 can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Members of the public and members of the media attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Three Mile Islands performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
