NRC-2015-0004-DRAFT-0024 Comment on FR Doc # 2015-00450 Submitter Information Name: Constance Harvard General Comment To the NRC, I am heartened to see Jeff Baran will be on the Commission for the next three years, to learn the facts that he worked for eleven years in the U.S. House of Representatives with the House Energy and Commerce Committee (as senior counsel and as Staff Director of the Democrats on that Committee), and that during his tenure, oversight of the NRC was one of his primary responsibilities.

I call on Commissioner Baran to give his full attention to the decommissioning and dismantling at VYNPS. The soil, contaminated with radioactive elements from leaking underground pipes, must be removed. Do not let it sit there for decades, spreading farther and deeper, contaminating more soil and groundwater on the flood plain of the Connecticut River. Require Entergy to begin the dismantling process immediately, to start with the buildings with Strontium-90 contaminated soil beneath them. Require Entergy to put VYNPS into DECON, NOT SAFSTOR! The Federal Government should lend them money to accomplish this expensive operation.

Please help the people of Windham County by speeding up the timeline that Entergy has proposed.

Once the radiological cleanup is accomplished, the site is perfect for a large array of solar panels, the electric grid already there. Facilitate this business/government interaction.

With government help, Entergy could cleanup the site AND go into the solar energy business!

Help us move AWAY from nuclear fuel and turn to using renewable sources of energy that dont leave such dangerous toxicity that will exist for centuries.
