High Bill, Attached is a request for additional information (RAI) related to Fire Protection Engineering regarding Florida Power and Light Company license amendment request for transitioning to National Fire Protection Association 805. I emailed you draft RAI 12 on February 6, and we discussed it during the clarification call on February 9, 2015. Per our discussions, you agreed to provide a response to this RAI by March 11, 2015. Also, you agreed with the staff determination that RAI 12 does not contain any sensitive information.

Additional St. Lucie RAI Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) RAI 12 10 CFR 50.48(c)(2)(vii) requires, in part, that performance-based alternatives used to demonstrate compliance with National Fire Protection Association Standard 805 (NFPA 805)
Chapter 3 elements maintain fire protection defense-in-depth.
The NRC staff has determined that there is insufficient detail regarding defense in depth to form a conclusion for license amendment request Attachment L Approval Requests 4 (NFPA 805 section 3.3.5.2) and 5 (NFPA 805 section 3.3.12(1)).
Provide additional detail regarding how each echelon of defense in depth is maintained for these two approval requests.
Also provide revised LAR Attachment L Approval Requests if appropriate.
