Briana, The DOI letter incorporates FWS comments. We have no objection.

Hi Jon, Are you still the person at your office that would review the Byron license renewal? I know its been a while since our last correspondence, so I just wanted to check. I am hoping that you (or the correct person in your office, if it is not you) can answer the question below for me.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sent FWS a letter dated December 24, 2014 (click here to view letter) regarding our draft supplemental environmental impact statement (EIS) and biological assessment for Byron license renewal. We received a letter from the DOI on February 17, 2015 (attached) stating that the DOI had no comments on the draft supplemental EIS. In my experience with other projects, sometimes the DOI incorporates FWSs comments in its comment letters to NRC and sometimes it doesnt. For Byron, will FWS be submitting its own separate letter or does the DOIs letter reflect the FWSs position (no comments)?

Thanks! Feel free to call me if it is easier to discuss this on the phone.

RE: Byron Illinois License Renewal Hi Jon, Thanks for getting back to me on the letter concerning Byron license renewal. No need for a formal letter--your email is sufficient. The most important outcome is to make sure that I am considering all relevant species.

Thank you for letting me know about the leafy prairie clover. I will consider that species in my review. I also attached a PDF copy of the full letter. I apologize that you did not receive attachments. Thank you, Briana Briana A. Briana, I received a letter dated August 8th, 2013 from the NRC requesting concurrence concerning the list of federally endangered species that may be affected by the proposed license renewal for the Byron Illinois Station Nuclear Plant. The letter states there are 3 species. There is however a 4th species potentially present and that is the leafy prairie clover. Information regarding the leafy prairie clover may be found on our Regional Endangered species web page along with the other three species.

Normally, our office no longer provides a written response to species list requests.

However, if you require one, I can oblige. In addition, the letter copy our office received contained no enclosures.
