Notification of Spent Fuel Loading at Palisades Nuclear Plant
Dear Sir or Madam:
In accordance with 10 CFR 72.212(b)(1), this letter provides written notification that Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (ENO) plans to begin loading the Holtec International HI-STORM FW multi-purpose canister (MPC) storage system at the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP) after April 19, 2015, under the PNP general license. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) was previously notified of this intent during discussions on September 30, 2014. The NRC began inspection activities related to fuel loading with the new system on January 12, 2015.
ENO intends to apply the approved, 10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Quality Assurance Program (QAP) to the loading activities at PNP in accordance with 10 CFR 72.140(d).
ENO submitted the QAP to the NRC on April 25, 2014. The NRC approved the ENO QAP on August 8, 2014. The current revision of the QAP (Revision 29) became effective on December 1, 2014, and will be submitted to the NRC in the next annual report, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(a)(3).
