- Victoria, As committed during our call last week, I am transmitting the draft White Paper with various mark-ups and comments. In our view, most suggestions are likely to reflect ideas that NRC staff and industry agree on with an improved accuracy. We understand that this is NEIs White Paper and as such it is completely within your prerogative to accept or reject various changes we have suggested. During our planned public meeting on 2/5, various NRC staff members whose views prompted these suggestions will provide you additional details.
We do have one substantive comment:
We believe that the recommendation section should be restructured to convey a clear set of action items that are directly connected to the objectives of the Working Group.
Providing 9 recommendations which implicitly points to various recommended actions makes it difficult to for the NRC staff to weigh in on any proposed next steps.
One option is to rename Recommendations with Observations and provide a list of specific actions. It might be a good idea to bin such proposed actions to two groups (short-term, and long-term).
Doug will include this email and the attachment in public ADAMS so that the NRC staff can discuss these comments with you and your supporting staff on the February 5 th .
