Request to Extend Expiration Date of USNRC Quality Assurance Program Approval for Radioactive Material Packages, Docket No. 71-0383 Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, LLC (CCNPP) holds a general license to package and transport radioactive material under 10 CFR 71.17(a) and has a quality assurance program approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) as satisfying the provisions of Subpart H of 10 CFR Part 71. Calvert Cliffs' 10 CFR Part 71 quality assurance program was last approved by the NRC on December 15, 2004, and the approval expired on December 31, 2014.

The quality assurance program described in 10 CFR Part 71 covers items such as the procurement, maintenance, repair, and use, among other requirements, for packaging used to transport radioactive material. Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant uses packaging regulated by 10 CFR Part 71 to transport radioactive material. Title 10 CFR 71.101(b) requires that each licensee establish and maintain a quality assurance program that satisfies each of the criteria in 10 CFR 71.101 through 71.137 for the packaging and transport of radioactive material. Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant maintains a quality assurance program in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B as required by Renewed Operating Licenses DPR-53 and DPR-69. Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant's 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B quality assurance program satisfies the applicable criteria of 10 CFR 71.101(b) and has been previously approved by the NRC for use with regard to transport packages. To continue activities covered by 10 CFR Part 71, NRC approval of a quality assurance program for radioactive material packages is needed. Therefore, we are requesting renewal of the Quality A
