- NON EMERGENCY OFFSITE NOTIFICATION - ENDANGERED SPECIES "At approximately 0915 [EST] on December 22nd, 2014, a deceased Atlantic Sturgeon was removed from the Salem Unit 1Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. Shortnose Sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.
"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 0956 [EST] and the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at 0959 [EST], concerning the Atlantic sturgeon by Environmental Licensing."
The licensee will inform the Lower Alloways Creek [LAC] Township and has informed the NRC Resident Inspector.
